This free online session will provide an overview of modern timber frame construction, covering system types, key building physics principles, relevant regulations and standards, and typical design and construction interfaces. It will explain why more and more projects are being constructed using timber frame, the benefits the method brings how schemes are delivered in practice. The session explains how timber frame buildings are manufactured, erected and finished, and highlights the performance benefits, common challenges, and best practice considerations across the project lifecycle. Ideal for those new to timber frame or seeking to refresh their knowledge, it delivers clear insight into how the system works and where it delivers value in contemporary construction.

The session will be delivered by the STAs Technical Director Dr Paul Newman who has over 30 years of experience working in and around the timber frame industry in both manufacturing and consultancy.
